CHARGES AGAINST JAY Z DROPPED IN $5M LAWSUIT (UPDATE)

Charges against a company owned by Jay Z have been dropped in $5m class-action suit filed by a musician and businessman who had accused Tidal of screwing him out of royalties.

theJasmineBRAND.com erroneously reported that the suit had been settled.

Yesh Music LLC’s John Emanuele had filed a federal lawsuit against Jay Z's S. Carter Enterprises, Tidal, Project Panther and Aspiro, accusing them of copyright infringement and underpayment of royalties.

Yesh Music owns118 copyrighted musical recordings from Emanuele’s group The American Dollar (we’d never heard of it either) that are available for streaming on Tidal. The suit alleges that the service never obtained permission from the band, paid out any royalties nor provided monthly accounting reports.

All claims against S. Carter Enterprises have been dropped. Charges against Tidal, Project Panther and Aspiro are still pending.
