SONY/ATV UPS MEJIA

Jorge Mejia has been promoted to President, Latin America and U.S. Latin, for Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Mejia is responsible for the entire operations of the world’s leading music publishing company across the U.S. Latin market and the Latin American region, including overseeing offices in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Miami.

Mejia will be based in the company’s Miami office and report to Sony/ATV Co-President, U.S., Danny Strick. A former Sony/ATV intern and an accomplished pianist, Mejia rose to President over the course of 20 years at the company.

“Jorge and I share the same vision for growth in the Latin market where he has proven himself to be a leader in every territory both from a creative standpoint and in implementing programs to meet the challenges in the digital world,” Sony/ATV Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said between puffs on a Cohiba.

Strick, who has worked Mejia for more than a decade , “He combines the strong attributes of musical taste, drive and business savvy in a way that has strongly contributed to the success and growth of our Latin division.”

Sony/ATV’s Latin roster includes Ricardo Arjona, Don Omar, Nicky Jam, Wisin, Yandel, Ricky Martin and Mario Domm.

Upon getting the promotion, Mejia vowed to help senior staff spell "reggaeton" properly.
