Tracks kicking up a storm in Blighty this week include “DNCE” from Cake by the Ocean (Island), “Famous” from Kanye West (Def Jam), “Team” from Iggy Azalea (Virgin EMI) and “Faded” from Alan Walker (Relentless/Sony). So who has the hottest new record?
Relentless boss Shabs Jobanputra could have a future hit on his hands thanks to Norwegian producer Walker. “Faded,” a dance track, was up four places on the Official Singles Chart, sitting at #7 at this week’s halfway point. At Radiomonitor, the track is #18, with airplay up 17% this rolling week thanks to continued support from Capital FM and BBC Radio 1. It sits at #10 on the Spotify U.K. Top 50 chart and #9 at iTunes.
“Faded” was first released in Norway in 2015, where it hit #1. Its accompanying video has amassed some 137m views on YouTube.
“DNCE” is the next one to watch, currently sitting at #3 on the Radiomonitor charts, with plays up 28% this week, and playlisted at Capital FM and the BBC Radio 1. The track leapt from #17 to #10 on the Official Singles Chart midweek update.
