U.K. CHARTS: LUKAS GRAHAM AND ADELE TAKE TOP SLOTS

Lukas Graham’s steady rise up the U.K. Official Singles Chart has paid dividends as the Warner-signed Danish quartet boast a second week at #1 with “7 Years,” increasing last week’s numbers by 30k, and clocking up 134k combined sales. Despite technical difficulties during her Grammy performance, XL’s Adele is back at #1 on the Official Albums front.

This week’s highest climber is “Swings & Waterslides” by Communion band Viola Beach, who were tragically killed in a car accident while on tour with manager Craig Tarry on Sunday. The track is at #11 thanks to a wealth of public support. It might have risen higher had radio been more friendly, although BBC Introducing (a programme that supported the band from the beginning) has been paying tribute via airplay and showing live BBC performances. Tomorrow, all 36 BBC Introducing local radio shows will do their part. Can the continued support move them further up the charts? Nowhere to be seen at Global, community radio is where the track is getting the most plays at the moment. Top of the RadioMonitor charts instead is “7 Years,” with just under 5.9k plays this last week, and 5.18m streams.

Elsewhere on the Official Singles Charts, Rihanna improves one place with “Work” at #3, and “Lush Life” (Ten Music Group/Epic) by Zara Larsson is another high climber, hitting its six-week peak and jumping seven spots to #9 after topping the first-ever Official Trending Chart on Tuesday.

Adele’s 25 clocks up an eighth non-consecutive week on the Official Albums Chart, while David Bowie’s Best of (Parlophone) climbs one place to #2 and Justin Bieber does the same, advancing to #3 with Purpose (Virgin EMI).

Highest new entry of the week goes to Decca’s Ronan Keating, who scores his eighth Top 10 hit with ninth studio album, Time of My Life, at #4. Completing the Top 5 is last week's #1: Coldplay's A Head Full of Dreams (Parlophone).

Following his spectacular performance at Sunday's Grammys, Kendrick Lamar's former #1, To Pimp a Butterly, which goes through Polydor in Blighty, zooms 72 places to #31.
