CHART STORY: FEELING 25 AGAIN

XL/Columbia Queen Adele has returned to her throne atop the HITS Album Sales Chart, earning another 99k for 25. On the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart, the set racked up 117k. If you’re keeping score, her RTD is now at 8m. And we know you're keeping score.

The highest-charting debut, however, belongs to UMe’s Megadeth, whose Dystopia lands at #2 with 47k. Throw some goat, buddy.

In its 11th week out, RBMG/Def Jam’s Justin Bieber remains in the Top 3 with Purpose, which was up around 25% with 45k. Meanwhile, he continues to completely dominate at SPS, more than doubling his album sales number with 100k. That’s what happens when you’ve got three wildly successful singles, ladies ‘n gents.

David Bowie’s Blackstar (Columbia) holds on at #4, as physical retailers re-stock after the unexpected high demand continues following his death.

Chris Stapleton’s Traveller (Mercury Nashville)—a Grammy Album of the Year contender—rounds out the Top 5. Considering the set originally dropped in May and received its critical acclaim after the CMAs in November, one can’t help but gawk at its stamina as we head into February.

As for the rest of this week’s noteworthy bows, the 2016 Grammy Nominees compilation (#7)—out via RepublicTank (#9), Hoodie Allen (#10) and eOne’s William McDowell (#15) all appear in the Top 15.

And as music lovers continue to mourn the loss of Glenn Frey, EaglesGreatest Hits ’71-75 remains in the Top 15 at #12. Boosted by her SNL performance, Interscope’s Selena Gomez leaps #49-23 with Revival, up more than 40%.

And unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that, to her fans’ surprise, Rihanna has dropped ANTI (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) digitally. Also streeting this week are albums from Monkey Puzzle/RCA’s Sia, RCA’s Tinashe, Columbia’s St. Lucia and labelmate Wet.

In political news, the final Republican debate before the Iowa caucus got rather intense, leaving Marco Rubio feeling dehydrated.
