WEEZER WHITE-OUT

Today is a big day for Weezer. The beloved Santa Monica band—now proudly indie—has revealed that its tenth album will be self-titled, with white artwork (the “White Album,” get it?) and will drop on April 1.

The preorder is available now, as is the brand-new cut “King of the World” (described as a “sun-bleached sing-along” in this morning’s announcement; listen below). The new LP will also contain last year's awesome "Do YouWanna Get High?" and current single "Thank God for Girls"—the latter a steal at 69 cents in the iTunes Store.

Rivers Cuomo and his posse have also announced they’ll be embarking on a co-headlining tour this summer with fellow Crush clients Panic! At the Disco and special guests Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. It kicks off 6/10 in Texas and concludes 8/6 at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre. Here are your instructions for procuring ducats:

Get your tickets early by signing up to the band's mailing list before Monday (11/18) to receive a code to access the presale tickets available on 1/19 at 10am local time, or by checking out Pandora's specially curated tour mixtape from 2pm local time on 1/19 through 10pm local time on 1/21. General on-sale tickets will be available on 1/22 at 10am local time.

The band will play "Thank God for Girls" on tonight's LIVE episode of Undateable, at 8pm on NBC, and will be stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live next Tuesday (1/19).

Here’s a revealing mini-Q&A with Rivers:

What was the inspiration behind the songs on this record?
The inspiration behind the songs were my experiences hanging around the Westside of Los Angeles, which has been our home since Weezer began. Hanging out with people in Venice and Santa Monica, the beach, the Hare Krishnas, the Sikh on roller blades with the guitar, girls on Tinder within a four-mile radius, seeing other bands, the kids from La Sera. I would just tweet out "does anybody wanna hang?" and then I'd get together with people who responded and talk about life. I love California. I wanted the album to make you feel like you were there with us SoCal weirdos even if you're in Milwaukee in December.

How do you see this album as a "beach album"?
Obviously my favorite band has always been The Beach Boys, and what I love about them most are the melodies and the chord progressions. I guess the harmonies too. And the orchestration. Can't forget about the lyrics. So basically everything. I wanted to get that kind of vibe: beautiful tunes and sweet lyrics. I also love the dark side of the beach—Venice after dark, hearing at the Del Monte Speakeasy about how the gangsters used to drag the bodies through the catacombs and leave them under the pier.

What are you most proud of with this album?
I'm proud of the demented lyrics that are like, "What? Who says that? Who thinks that? What planet on am I on? I don't know, but I kinda wanna stay!" Welcome to our planet, people! After 24 years, we still love being in this band, and we wanna keep it going for at least another 14 years.
