U.K. CHARTS: BIEBER'S RECORD-BREAKING TOP 3 TRIFECTA

Justin Bieber rules this week's U.K. Official Singles Chart, continuing 2016 with “Love Yourself” logging a fifth week at #1, “Sorry” again at #2 and “What Do You Mean” moving up one place to #3. XL’s Adele is still Queen of the Albums Chart despite stiff competition from Elvis.

The phenomenon that is Bieber’s comeback shows no signs of letting up, with the young singer this week breaking more records, boasting the first time an artist has ever achieved the triple Top 3 feat.

Since the release ofWhat Do You Meanback in September, Bieber (on Virgin EMI in the U.K., and Def Jam stateside) has held at least one position in the Top 5 in Blighty's charts. Following the release of Purpose in November, eight of his songs entered the Top 40—the most ever for a living artist. Again we ask, what’s his secret?

Making up the rest of this week’s Top 5 are Breakthrough Artist at the People’s Choice Awards Shawn Mendes, who vaults from #12 to #4 with "Stitches" (Island) for its fourth week inside the Top 40. Adele’s “Hello” is down two places from #3 to #5.

Elvis is the first real competition Adele has faced for the Official Albums #1 spot since the release of 25 seven weeks ago with If I Can Dream (Sony Music CG). But alas, even the King can’t knock the Queen off her throne.

25 logs a seventh week at #1, finishing nearly 3.3k sales ahead of Elvis, who spends his 10th consecutive week in the Top 3 and has now been certified triple platinum.

Meanwhile, Bieber’s Purpose holds firm at #3, Jess Glynne’s I Cry When I Laugh (Atlantic U.K.) stays at #4 and James Bay’s Chaos And The Calm (Republic) rises five places to return to the Top 5.
