There’s finally movement in the Rihanna camp—ANTI will drop either this Friday or next (12/11). A $30m deal with Samsung will give her sales a boost of some kind, according to our sources, but they offered no details on how the tie-in will work. Samsung apparently delayed the launch of huge holiday marketing campaign while Team RiRi and Roc Nation readied the album for release—a sign of the value the Galaxy maker has placed on the Rihanna brand. Expect Tidal to get a lift from the Samsung promo as well.
Other questions surround the release: Will there be physical product? There have been no indications that CDs have yet been produced. Will Spotify have it? Will Apple have it for downloads and/or steaming, or will this be another exclusive for Samsung and Tidal?
Meanwhile, the on-sale through Tidal for her upcoming world tour of stadiums in Europe and arenas in the U.S. is said to be solid despite the service’s relatively small size and limited reach. Those in the know expect a big lift when the general on-sales goes up later this week.
Page Six ran with the basics of the unfolding story in today's edition.
Further details to come.
