UPDATE: One Direction's Made in the AM was played in its entirety on SiriusXM's Hits 1 on Thursday (11/12). Meanwhile, JB has infiltrated the iTunes Store, and the slowcase is now occupied by the two rivaling acts.
As their battle for a #1 bow on next week's sales charts intensifies, SYCO/Columbia's One Direction executed a takeover of the iTunes Store landing page, exclusively occupying the slowcase and with three rows of tiles featuring the pretty mugs of the four members. Their Made in the A.M. will at last be released on 11/13.
Rival Justin Bieber (Def Jam), also vying for #1, sits at the top of the iTunes album chart, while 1D occupies the #4 post. On the singles side, Bieber's "Sorry" is #2 , "What Do You Mean" is #3 and "I'll Show You" is #6; 1D's "What a Feeling" is #11, "Love You Goodbye" is #13, "Perfect" is #19 and "End of the Day" is #20.
Meanwhile, 1D, who just sat for an interview with BBC Radio 1, are touting physical product featuring exclusive covers with the aforementioned pretty mugs of the individual members; those will be available at Target.
Watch for both sides to make more moves as the pop battle royale continues.
