Interscope’s recently inked Selena Gomez has surpassed eOne’s The Game in a squeaker, topping the HITS Album Sales Chart with 86k and the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with 117k.
Gomez’s Revival is among the Top 5 biggest beneficiaries of SPS, earning 31k more than album sales alone. The big winner in that group was The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness (XO/Republic), however, which earned 31k in sales with 85k at SPS, a difference of 53k. Of course, The Weeknd’s return to the Top 3 follows his stellar performance on SNL.
At #2, The Game’s The Documentary 2 scored 82k on the Album Sales Chart and 95k at SPS. In an interesting move, he will immediately follow this release with another album, The Documentary 2.5, which charts next week. Will it be as big as its predecessor? Considering there’s only been one week of pre-orders, we can’t be entirely sure.
As for other debuts, Warner Bros. Nashville’s Jana Kramer lands at #4 and Show Dog’s Toby Keith bows at #6, while Fearless’ Mayday Parade rounds out the Top 15.
Big Machine/BMLG’s Taylor Swift leaps #10-5, earning another 20k for 1989 in its 50th week on the chart. That means, in two weeks, it’ll reach a year... We good with numburz.
Powered by a $6.99 sale at iTunes, NOW/Legacy’s NOW 55 enjoys a 59% bump. Other albums that saw sale-related boosts include Elle King’s Love Stuff (RCA), which went #50-31, Meghan Trainor’s Title (Epic), which broke back into the Top 25, Halsey’s Badlands (Capitol) and Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour (Capitol).
Streeting this week are albums from Safehouse/Island/Hollywood’s Demi Lovato, RCA’s Pentatonix, eOne’s The Game, Interscope’s BØRNS, Ultra/Columbia’s OMI and Columbia’s Raury, along with the 30th edition of Kidz Bop—out via Razor & Tie.
