PTX INKS PUB DEAL WITH SONY/ATV

Just days before the release of their self-titled RCA album, a cappella quintet Pentatonix have inked a pub deal with Sony/ATV. The group’s original single “Can’t Sleep Love” is now working its way at Pop radio and has earned nearly 9m total views for the seven versions of its video thus far.

The Grammy-winning fivesome, who first broke through on TV’s The Sing-Off in 2011, had the fourth top-selling album of last year with That’s Christmas to Me, which sold 1.2m; with their EPs the group has sold more than 2m. They’ve surpassed 1 billion total video views and enjoy 9m subscribers to their YouTube channel.

Pubco co-prez Danny Strick declared, “We are very excited to be working with Pentatonix as their original repertoire begins to impact the market. While their existing catalog of covers, which includes many Sony/ATV copyrights, has found a remarkable fan base both on record and on stage, we believe that their songwriting contributions on the upcoming album will take them to the next level. We look forward to working with them on collaborations with our great writers for the future.”

Pentatonix are said to be uncertain about whether to order sushi or get a chimp as a pet.
