At an exhibition at the MAMA Gallery in DTLA last night, Roc Nation/Def Jam superstar Rihanna and contemporary artist Roy Nachum unveiled seven original oil paintings that will be used as the official artwork for her forthcoming eighth studio album titled ANTI. Nachum painted the album cover depicting a young girl with a gold crown covering her eyes.
At the unveiling, Rihanna talked with genuine enthusiasm about being introduced to the artist's works by Roc Nation's Ty Ty Smith saying to the room, "This is my favorite album cover I've ever done."
Also spotted celebrating the forthcoming project was Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels, Rick Sackheim, Noah Sheer along with newly minted CEO of Warner/Chappell Music Big Jon Platt and of course, Roc Nation President Jay Brown.
With Braille poetry verses inscribed by Chloe Mitchel on Nachum's art for the front and back cover of ANTI, it's a unique and powerful piece—the first time an album has ever incorporated physical Braille, an inclusion that will allow people who are blind to experience an entire album by touch.
No official release date from RiRi though, that would be too basic for you bitches. We await word while silently pondering this awesome art piece.
