ONE SPIRITED
CHART STORY

Bring Me the Horizon Tops Album Chart;
The Weeknd Rules With Consumption

Columbia's Bring Me the Horizon tops the HITS Album Sales Chart with 54k for That's the Spirit, while XO/Republic's The Weeknd continues his reign atop the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with 100k for Beauty Behind the Madness.

Thanks to a huge online presence and multiple smash singles, the latter managed to double his album sales number on the SPS side. BMTH, meanwhile, trails him at #2 on the SPS side with 59k.

Interestingly, 17 debuts make up the Top 50 albums this week; that's one-third of the chart. With three in the Top 5, Nuclear Blast America's Slayer bows at #2 with 51k for Repentless and WMG Nashville's Brett Eldredge comes in at its heels at #3 with 49k for Illinois.

And with about seven debuts in the Top 15, Warner Bros.' Gary Clark Jr. lands at #6 with Story of Sonny Boy Slim, the highly anticipated follow-up to his Grammy-winningBlak and Blu. Labelmates and new wave icons Duran Duran round out the Top 10 with their 14th studio album, Paper Goods. TDE's Jay Rock follows at #11 with 90059, and King Inc.'s T.I. lands at #12 with Da Nic EP, just ahead of the NOW/Legacy's 55th installment of the NOW franchise.

It's pretty fair to say that the new releases are out in force. Unfortunately for veteran releases, all but four albums' sales were down this week; YMCMB/Republic's Drake(#38), Hollywood's Guardians of the Galaxy (#41), Republic Nashville/BMLG's Florida Georgia Line (#46) and Columbia's Hozier (#47) ended up seeing upward movement.

22 weeks since its release, Shawn Mendes' debut full-length, Handwritten (Island), is the big winner at SPS, as it holds strong in the Top 20.

Streeting this week are albums from Interscope's Lana Del Rey, Warner Bros.' Mac Miller, Columbia's David Gilmour, Republic's Keith Richards, UMe's Chris Cornell, Glassnote's Robert DeLong and Boardwalk/Hollywood's ZZ Ward.

In related news, HITS will soon be releasing an EP comprised of the sounds of us banging our heads against the walls during last night's debate, so stay tuned for that.
