DRE GETS PHYSICAL

Physical product on Dr. Dre’s Compton, A Soundtrack goes on sale at retail this Friday. Our updated projection for the album’s second week is 40-45k sales, 50-55k consumption.

Target will be the only retailer not carrying Compton on release day. Discussions are underway for Target to have the release for Q4.

Although Amazon will carry the release, marketing on the site may be limited or absent altogether. Amazon and UMG are currently in a pissing match about the rate paid to include UMG titles in Amazon’s Prime Music offering. As such, UMG titles are not available to preorder at Amazon, and the retailer isn’t showing them any love once the titles are released. UMG product is available to purchase, however, and can be found by searching the site.
