It was classic Page Six. First the lurid, over-the-top headline: “Nashville exec goes ‘ballistic’ over power-list ranking.”

Then the unsubstantiated claim: “Music bible Billboard published its first-ever list of Nashville’s Top 50 Power Players in July, but sources told Page Six the exec who came in last complained about his rank. [Vector chief] Ken Levitan…was No. 50 on the list, behind… rival rep Doc McGhee. ‘Ken wrote a scathing letter to Billboard,’ a music insider said. “He told everyone in Nashville. He went ballistic!”

And then the small print—aka the truth: “Levitan told us, “It’s not true,” when reached for comment in Nashville, Tenn. But he added: ‘Billboard can do whatever it wants—it’s an irrelevant magazine anyway.’”
