SALES UPDATE:
TOP 10 TRACKS

One takeaway from this week’s leaderboard is that the biz clearly has a reigning triumvirate in year-to-date and weekly marketshare leaders Republic, Columbia and Capitol, who’ve glommed up seven of the 10 slots below (including Big Machine’s Taylor Swift, whose sales go to Republic’s marketshare). The other takeaway from this week’s swooning numbers is that there’s not much there there, much like what’s beneath the intricate crosshatching of Donald Trump’s coif. As the declines continue, week after week, the hypothesis that Apple Music is cannibalizing iTunes sales becomes increasingly plausible. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
