Since Monday is the new Wednesday, our timing may be a little off, but here’s the leaderboard for the week ending on the Friday before this one. Because you don’t wanna miss an episode of this series; otherwise you won’t be able to follow the plot. But we digress.
For nine of the Top 10, it was a very good week—but lest we forget—before anybody pops the champagne—this was the first 11-day week in recorded history.
Two weeks ago, we wrote: “Chances are good that OMI (Ultra/Columbia) will be on top of the heap following the extended holiday weekend, with The Weeknd’s latest, “Can’t Feel My Face” (XO/Republic; +40%) breathing down the necks of the four records presently in front of it. And don’t sleep on Capitol rookie Silento and Mad Decent’s Diplo-led Major Lazer, both of which hit the big board from the teens.” Lo and behold, as you’ll see below, we went three-for-four, which doesn’t happen every day. And to our (partial) credit, Major Lazer was up an asterisked 41% though it slipped to #11; so we decided to include it as an honorable mention.
