YOU OUGHTA KNOW: SANDY'S 15-YEAR VH1 ANNIVERSARY

As She Celebrates This Milestone, She Tries to Ignore the Millstone That Is Us

VH1's Sandy Alouete celebrates her 15th anniversary at the network this month. During her tenure there she's been a steadfast champion of breakout artists like Sam Smith (with whom she's pictured here).

She got her start at Seymour Stein's Sire in 1985, spending her first 15 years in the Sire/Reprise system; she worked with with The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Ramones, Madonna, Seal and other superstars, making her way to head of International by 2000. That year, of course, saw Wayne Isaak bring her aboard at VH1. She was upped to SVP Talent & Music Programming last October.

For some reason, she continues to associate with us.

Sandy and hubby Lyle Preslar (a gifted musician best known for his work with punk legends Minor Threat) are the proud parents of eight-year-old Romy, who is patiently teaching her folks how to watch videos on their phones.
