Jurassic World Continues Monstrous Run; Disney/Pixar's Inside Out Enjoys Huge Opening

Jurassic World remains the biggest creature at the domestic box office, biting off another $102m for Universal in its second week.

Animation/family flick Inside Out outperforms expectations, following closely behind at #2 with just short of a six-figure takeaway. This marks Pixar's second largest opening, after 2010's Toy Story 3 ($110m). Even more interesting, it snagged the largest opening weekend ever for an original property, meaning a film that isn't sequel, remake, reboot or non-sourced work. James Cameron's Avatar trails behind with $77m.

1. Jurassic World (Universal) $102m 4,291/$23,775 avg. (week 2)
2. Inside Out (Buena Vista) $91m 3,946/$23,076 avg. (debut)
3. Spy (Fox) $10.5m 3,558/$2,951 avg. (week 3)
4. San Andreas (Warner Bros.) $8m 3,177/$2,594 avg. (week 4)
5. Dope (Open Road) $6m 2,002/$3,006 avg. (debut)

Roadside Attractions' Brian Wilson biopic, Love & Mercy, remains strong at #12 with just south of $2m (up 1.4%), earning an average of $2,140 across just 792 theaters.
