GATFIELD RESURFACES IN NEW VENTURE

Former Sony Music U.K. boss Nick Gatfield has launched Twin Music, described as an investment, strategy and services provider for early-stage artists and music entrepreneurs by Music Business Worldwide.

The London-based newco says it will “assist in developing, managing and funding a delivery strategy and business platform with the aim of creating sustainable business models for both artists and entrepreneurs.” In exchange, Twin Music will receive a minority equity participation in these start-ups, much like a venture-capital entity.

“To date there has been a void in early-stage funding and incubation support for new artists and music start-ups,” Gatfield explained. “However, with the current level of disintermediation in the industry, there has rarely been a better time for artists and entrepreneurs to pursue their unique vision and forge their own career paths. Twin Music Inc. hopes to fill this void and help find and develop those unique individuals who will define the next chapter of the music business.”

Twin Music has already made a number of investments in both artist vehicles and strategically relevant businesses. Further announcements will follow.
