Jurassic World Takes Over the World
Universal’s Jurassic World tears up the box office with a monstrous opening, earning north of $200m. With $204.6m, the film scored the second-biggest opening of all time, behind the first installment of The Avengers ($207.4m). Adding the international yield, it snagged a whopping $512m worldwide, making it the first film in history to gross more than $500m in one weekend.
If that's not enough, the dino-packed action/adventure flick had the third-biggest Friday opening on record with $82.8m, surpassed only by Age of Ultron ($84.4m) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 ($91m).

Meanwhile at #10, Love & Mercy, which stars John Cusack and Paul Dano as The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson in different phases of his life as he deals with the band’s rise to fame, his auditory hallucinations and a toxic relationship with his psychotherapist, earns a strong $3,080 average across just 573 theaters.
