BORRIS GETS HIS SVP STRIPES

Jon Borris has been elevated to SVP Pop Promotion at Columbia, label promo domo Lee Leipsner announced this morning. Borris has led Pop radio campaigns for the likes of Hozier, Pharrell, One Direction, Calvin Harris and John Legend. He’d previously been VP Promotion.

EVP Leipsner describes Borris as “the consummate promotion executive who always meets every challenge; a trusted friend and colleague who has earned the respect of our staff, managers, our great roster of artists, and the entire promotion community.”

Borris genuflected to Leipsner, Joel Klaiman and Rob Stringer for the promotion as well as the “continued opportunity at Columbia to deliver. I am more proud than ever to represent Columbia’s storied artists and help break the stars of the future.”

Jon began his career in the music business right out of college in 1998 as a promo assistant at Atlantic, moving to 550 Music/Epic a year later, moving up through the ranks before joining Columbia as VP Top 40 in 2006. He once got a word in edgewise with Donnie Ienner.
