CHART STORY: MUMFORD & SONS’ WILDER WEEK

Glassnote's Alt/Folk Troubadours Top the Charts With Third Album

Wilder Mind by Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons has topped the HITS Building Album Sales Chart with 246k and the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with 259k. The very electric set is the follow-up to the Brits' Grammy-winning sophomore smash, Babel.

Reprise’s Josh Groban stays strong in his second week, on the heels of Mother’s Day. At #2, Stages, a compilation of Broadway chestnuts, earned another 102k (-32%).

Speaking of Mother's Day, the holiday spread the love to a handful of artists, including Big Machine's Taylor Swift, up 22% with 25k, Capitol's Sam Smith, up 35% with 23k, and Epic's Meghan Trainor, up 25% with 19k.

NOW’s Now 54 rounds out the Top 3 with 72k in its debut week, while Strange Music’s Tech N9ne bows at #4 with 56k.

Three other releases debut in the Top 15, including My Morning Jacket’s The Waterfall (Capitol) at #8 with 24k, New & Developing Artist Chris Stapleton’s Traveller (Mercury Nashville) at #9 with 24k and Ciara’s Jackie (Epic) at #14 with 20k.

Followed by the flick's transition to cable, Republic's Fifty Shades of Grey ST sees a 98% bump, grinding out another 31k at #6.

Powered by a $5.99 sale at iTunes, Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 tour-de-force, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (TDE/Aftermath/Interscope), re-entered the chart, earning another 21k. Also on sale, Eardruma/Interscope's up-and-coming duo Rae Sremmurd re-entered the chart thanks to a 217% sales increase, earning another 6k.

Thanks to the success of their massive hit single, “Shut Up and Dance,” RCA’s Walk the Moon are this week’s big winner at SPS, coming in at #20.

Streeting this week is UMe's Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack, along with albums from iamOTHER/Columbia's Snoop Dogg and Island's Incubus.
