The media has been piling onto Tidal this week, with stories about the freefall of the premium service’s mobile app multiplying like Star Trek tribbles.
This morning, for example, the Daily Mail noted that the $9.95-a-month (£9.99) service ranked at #872 on the overall download chart and #51 in the music category in the U.S., posting a graphic that illustrates the steep decline. The situation is worse in the U.K., with the app ranking at #92 in the music app category, and disappearing from the overall app list entirely.
By comparison, Pandora and Spotify occupy first and second spots respectively when the iOS and Google Play downloads are combined.
