STONES TO “ZIP” IT THIS SUMMER

The Rolling Stones have just announced their summer (mostly) stadium tour of North America, in conjunction with AEG, and there are a handful of changes in date and/or venue from the preliminary list we posted on Friday. The most striking aspect of this list is the absence of a date in L.A. or the Bay Area, but expect one or more likely both to be filled in.

The Zip Code tour, as it’s been dubbed, will coincide with the May 26 rerelease of their 1971 masterpiece Sticky Fingers. That’s the one that was originally released with Andy Warhol-designed cover featuring a jeans-clad crotch complete with full metal zipper.

In conjunction with the tour, iHeartMedia will host "iHeartRadio Icons: The Rolling Stones Zip Code Tour," a one-hour broadcast featuring an interview with Mick and Keith and live versions of several Stones faves. Jim Kerr will host. The show will air tonight at 7 local time on the chain’s Classic Rock and Classic Hit stations as well as iheartradio.com/rollingstones. These same stations supported the tour announcement in what’s colorfully described as “a massive on air roadblock,” a first for iHeart.
