Sony Music has formally announced its deal to acquire the remaining interest in distribbery The Orchard, subject to regulatory approval. The deal has been estimated at around $200 million. Sony has been the majority investor in the firm since 2012, when The Orchard was merged with Sony-owned IODA and became the digital distribution arm for RED and select ex-U.S. catalogue.
