SALES UPDATE:
TOP 10 TRACKS

As we noted yesterday, track sales slid another 5% from the previous week, which was itself nothing to write home about, but some light broke through the clouds at the top of the mountain. Sam Smith and John Legend’s “Lay Me Down” grew by 472% week over week, while Maroon 5’s “Sugar” (+4%) and Flo Rida’s “G.D.F.R.” (+8%) were in positive territory. The tandem hits from the Fifty Shades of Grey ST didn’t gain any units, but they held their own. The only debut to show up big was Mumford & Sons’ “Believe,” bringing some electric guitars (but no banjo) to the Top 10.

  1. Mark Ronson f/Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk!” – 189k
  2. Maroon 5, “Sugar” – 178k
  3. Sam Smith f/John Legend, “Lay Me Down” – 157k
  4. Ellie Goulding, “Love Me Like You Do” – 152k
  5. Ed Sheeran, “Thinking Out Loud” – 137k
  6. Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney, “FourFive Seconds” – 124k
  7. The Weeknd, “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)” – 99k
  8. Flo Rida f/Sage the Gemini, “G.D.F.R.” – 93k
  9. Mumford & Sons, “Believe” – 87k
  10. Taylor Swift, “Style” – 82k

It’s too soon to say whether the Mumford track will be rocking up the leaderboard over the long haul, but RCA’s Walk the Moon has a real comer of a rock-crossover cut with “Shut Up + Dance,” which goes #20-13 with 67k, a 25% increase.
