iHEART, DODGERS IN BED TOGETHER

Venerable sports station KLAC, where the dulcet tones of the late, great Chick Hearn were once heard, is now AM 570 LA Sports, following the completion of a co-ownership deal between the Dodgers and iHeartMedia Los Angeles. The station debuted its new logo and will also incorporate the new 2015 Dodgers slogan “We Love LA!” (Randy Newman will presumably receive royalties whenever these worlds appear.)

An extensive outdoor and mobile campaign will be launched throughout SoCal featuring the new AM 570 LA Sports logo as well as Vin Scully, Clayton Kershaw and Yasiel Puig. In addition, custom-branded promos will also be heard across all eight of iHeartMedia’s L.A. stations.

The weekday sked will essentially remain the same, with Dan Patrick (6-9am), followed by the recently launched LA Today with Bill Reiter and Leann Tweeden (9 to noon), Jay Mohr (noon to 3) and the Petros and Money Show (3-7). Another recent addition, Dodger Talk featuring David Vassegh and Kevin Kennedy, will air following Dodgers games or at 7pm M-F. The sold-out home opener is April 6 against the San Diego Padres.

iHeartMedia Los Angeles Market President Greg Ashlock colorfully described the new releationship between the chain and the Dodgers as “made in Blue Heaven.”

Dodgers President/CEO Stan Kasten offers that “We’ve had a wonderful relationship over the years and our new partnership will make it even stronger as we work together to bring Dodger fans the finest in L.A. Sports radio programming.”

Kasten didn’t acknowledge the fact that AM 570 LA Sports will be the only way fans who don’t subscribe to Time Warner Cable can experience Dodgers games short of going to Chavez Ravine.
