CHART ATTACK: THE FORECAST CALLS FOR DARK SKIES

Big Sean Prevails in Squeaker Against Kid Rock

Big Sean’s Dark Sky Paradise tops BOTH the HITS Building Album Sales Chart and the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) chart with 136k and 167k, respectively, for the G.O.O.D./Def Jam release.

Warner Bros.Kid Rock bows at #2 with his 12th studio album, First Kiss, earning 135k on the album chart and 139k SPS.

Meanwhile, Republic’s Fifty Shades of Grey ST proves its stamina, remaining at #3 while strapping on another 66k.

Chris Brown & Tyga’s Fan of a Fan: The Album, released by RCA, rounds out the Top 5, debuting with 53k.

This week included four other debuts in the Top 15, including Essential’s Red (#10, 35k), Rhino’s Led Zeppelin with a 40th-anniversary Physical Graffiti re-issue (#11, 32k), Republic’s Mat Kearney (#13, 29k) and Epitaph’s Falling in Reverse (#14, 23k).

Buzzing pop/rockers and MTV Artists to Watch Misterwives (Photo Finish/Republic), enjoyed an impressive bow for their debut release with 14k sales/18k SPS. Keep an eye on them in our Vibe Raters section.

YMCMB/Republic’s Nicki Minaj sees a #21-11 difference between BAC and SPS; Single “Truffle Butter” is spreading the flavor at radio.

Streeting this week is the new one from RCA's Kelly Clarkson. The following week looks like a cage-match between Capitol Nashville's Luke Bryan and Live Nation/Interscope's Madonna, whose marketing plan includes a ticket-bundle with album purchases.
