CHART ATTACK

If You're Reading This, It's Drake at #1; Fifty Shades ST Also Enjoying It On Top

Who needs candy hearts when you've got music?

Drake's little Valentine surprise, in the form of a 17-track "mixtape" entitled If You're Reading This, It's Too Late, tops the HITS Building Album Sales Chart with just under 500k for YMCMB/Republic.

The set sees a heightened 541k, however, on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart due to a big Spotify look that contributed to nearly 15k in streams. Track sales also contributed over 30k to the album's final SPS number.

If that weren't enough for Monte Lipman's Team Republic to celebrate about, they've got the #2 spot hogtied, as the Fifty Shades of Grey ST bangs out 204k in its first week, and about 248k SPS thanks to tracks from The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding and AWOLNATION. That's another Valentine bonanza, dressed in latex.

Capitol's Sam Smith enjoys a massive physical bump after the Grammys, earning another 139k, up 150%, in his 35th week on the chart. Who wouldn't send him a mash note?

More Valentine love: Big Machine's Taylor Swift follows suit with 98k for 1989, sandwiched between besties Smith and Ed Sheeran.

Speaking of post-Grammy bumps for Capitol winners, Beck's Morning Phase leaps #21-8 with 62k, up 366%. As for SPS, he vaults #23-10 with 69k.

Sony Music Latin's Ricky Martin earns 25k at #13, while Sub Pop troubadour Father John Misty rounds out the Top 15 with newest releases.

RCA's Mark Ronson sees the biggest gap between album sales and SPS with a difference of #42-13 for Uptown Special.

Meanwhile, labelmate Sia's 1000 Forms of Fear sits pretty in the Top 20 for Albums and Top 15 for SPS.

Among the albums streeting this week is Smoke + Mirrors from KidinaKorner/Interscope's Imagine Dragons, which is taking off on the strength of a masterful campaign (which started with a big Target look, which you may recall from the Grammys) masterminded by Steve Berman.

In other news, Brian Williams' claim to have been the inspiration for Fifty Shades of Grey couldn't be confirmed at presstime.
