THE OFFSPRING'S RENAISSANCE MAN

You think you get a lot done in a day? Consider The Offspring frontman Dexter Holland.

The man has one of the hottest new records at Alternative radio, as his band, a stalwart of the format, returns with "Coming for You" (Time Bomb Recordings). Stay tuned for updates on add action later on today.

Meanwhile, Holland is also an accomplished pilot who flew solo around the world while subsisting on snack chips, a doctoral student in microbiology at USC (focusing on AIDS therapies) and an entrepreneur touting a hot sauce, Gringo Bandito, obtainable at Ralphs, Albertsons, Wahoo's and Chronic Tacos.

So yeah, Dexter's about as qualified for the term "renaissance man" as anyone we can think of. Not only do we dig the new Offpsring song (listen below), but we've tried the hot sauce and it's really good. We're sure our tongues will stop burning eventually.

Oh, and Dexter's recently published microbiology paper bears the title "Identification of Human MicroRNA-Like Sequences Embedded within the Protein-Encoding Genes of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus." Uh, rock on, dude.
