FALL OUT BOY'S PRICING PLAY

Strategic Pricing During Christmas Prompted Sales Windfall

With their American Beauty/American Psycho on the verge of a big #1 (likely 200k) chart bow tomorrow, DCD2/Island's Fall Out Boy appears to have benefited significantly from strategic online pricing.

According to inside sources, the band prompted some 90k in digital pre-orders when American was priced at $7.99 during the Christmas season through its 1/20 release as an incentive to pre-order; the price moved up to $9.99 upon streeting, after which, these sources say, it moved about 40k digital copies.
