ONCE IN A LIFETIME

We’re now in the week before Grammy Week (do they have a name for that?), and you know what that means: announcements and more announcements from the Recording Academy.

This morning, for example, we learned that the Bee Gees, Pierre Boulez, Buddy Guy, George Harrison, Flaco Jiménez, the Louvin Brothers and Wayne Shorter are this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipients. Richard Perry, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil and George Wein are the 2015 Trustees Award honorees; and Ray Kurzweil will receive the Technical Grammy Award.

All of these awards will be presented on the afternoon of Grammy eve, Feb. 7, at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in downtown L.A.
