RCA is the big winner this week, as Mark Ronson leaps to #1 at Pop, while labelmates Usher and Cage The Elephant hold their places in the top spots at Rhythm and PoMo, respectively.

THE FUTURE OF RADIO

The Action on Next Week's Top 40, Rhythm and Alternative Charts

Buddy! Ready for the weekend? Us too. But it ain’t 4:20 yet; before you unwind, take a peek into the future with our predictions for the future of three key Mediabase formats.

TOP 40
RCA's Mark Ronson takes the huge jump from #5 to #1 this week with "Uptown Funk" f/Bruno Mars just as the song prepares to move to power for several key outlets. Expect him to remain here for a minute! Columbia's Hozier makes the Top 5 move with "Take Me to Church," while Epic's Meghan Trainor enjoys another 1000+ spin week inside the Top 10 with "Lips Are Movin." Over at Republic, Natalie La Rose f/Jeremih’s "Somebody," Nick Jonas’ "Chains" (Island) and Tove Lo’s "Talking Body" (Island) all chart this week, and so does Priory’s "Weekend" (Warner Bros.).

RHYTHM
RCA's Usher will hold the #1 spot again this week with "I Don't Mind" f/Juicy J. Meanwhile, labelmate Mark Ronson f/Bruno Mars’ "Uptown Funk" and Ne-Yo’s "She Knows" (Motown) make a big push towards the top. As for Republic, Nicki Minaj f/Drake, Lil Wayne & Chris Brown’s "Only" (YMCMB) and Nick Jonas’ "Jealous" (Island) are also poised to have 300+ gains. Nicki Minaj f/Drake & Lil Wayne’s "Truffle Butter" and Natalie La Rose f/Jeremih’s "Somebody" will be 400+ spins, as will RCA's Chris Brown & Tyga’s "Ayo." Look for Glassnote's Childish Gambino to debut with "Sober" this week.

ALTERNATIVE
In another close battle at presstime, it looks like Cage The Elephant's "Cigarette Daydreams" (RCA) will remain #1 for a second week just edging out Arctic Monkeys’ "R U Mine" (Domino). It’s possible, moving forward, that Imagine Dragons’ "I Bet My Life" (KidInAKorner/Interscope) or Walk The Moon's "Shut Up and Dance" (RCA), now #4, could make a real run at the top spot. Nonesuch/Warner Bros.’ “Black Keys” continue to cruise up the charts with "Weight of Love," which will make a strong #27-20 move. RCA's Smallpools will debut on the chart with their new single, "Karaoke," as will Harvest’s Matt and Kim with "Get It."
