SMARTPHONE FACE-OFF: Apple acknowledged this morning that it has filed lawsuits against HTC, the Taiwan-based manufacturer of the Google Nexus One, accusing it of infringing on 20 Apple patents tied to the iPhone, the N.Y. Times reports. While Google wasn’t mentioned in the suit, the barrage of litigation is likely to worsen the already strained relations between Apple and Google. Said Steve Jobs in a press release: “We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it.
