Lauria on Elio

FALL GUY AT EMI: That’s the title of Peter Lauria’s must-read analysis of Elio Leoni-Sceti’s sudden split with EMI Music—and by extension from Terra Firma—in this morning’s N.Y. Post. His decision to quit was driven partly by a lack of support for his strategic plan for the label and his not wanting to be the fall guy should that plan fail to deliver, sources told Lauria. Terra Firma had reportedly ordered a series of competing plans, with an eye toward melding them into a single strategy that could be presented to investors. The opposition to Leoni-Sceti's plan was complemented by his growing disenchantment with Guy Hands and the music biz, which made it easier for him to resign than mount an internal battle for support, according to sources.
