Courtney To Sell Nirvana Catalog

LOVE’S LABOR LOST? Courtney Love may be ready to sell the remaining publishing rights she holds to the Nirvana catalog. The N.Y. Daily News reports that Evergreen Capital has offered the rock widow $162 million for her remaining stake in the End of Music catalog she inherited from late husband Kurt Cobain. Love originally sold 50% of her holdings to Larry Mestel's Primary Wave Music Publishing in 2006. An insider was quoted as saying Courtney believes the songbook “comes with too many memories…It’s haunted.” Even with that bid on the table, Love feels the songs are worth more. Others expected to join the bidding include Oaktree Capital’s Bruce Karsh, who reportedly paid $50 million for 25% of Love's half share in Cobain's catalog in 2007. (5/24a)
