E3 Action

GAMES PEOPLE PLAY: Plenty of action at this week’s E3 video game confab in at the L.A. Convention Center. Among those who turned out to hawk their wares were Eminem, Usher, Method Man, Redman and members of both Jane’s Addiction and Soundgarden. Last year, of course, Beatles Paul and Ringo showed up to unveil the MTV Harmonix Fab Four video game, and while there wasn’t anything quite as dramatic this year, the sheer number of pop stars on hand more than made up for it. "Everyone talks about the influence of video games on Hollywood, but in recent years, the music industry has been on the same trajectory," said Bitmob.com editor Dan "Shoe" Hsu. "It's no surprise to me that Ice-T is going to be in Gears of War 3, or that Eminem's newest track is premiering in Call of Duty: Black-Ops. The surprise is that it didn't happen sooner." (6/18p)
