Soft sales for Hard L.A.

HARD IS SOFT: Ticket sales for Hard L.A., a one-day fest headlined by M.I.A. and featuring noise-pop sensations Sleigh Bells, are way off, according to a story on the L.A. Times’ Pop & Hiss blog. The site of the July 17 event, a 36-acre plot of land at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, which is just east of Chinatown, has a capacity of 25k, but less than half the $60-and-up ducats will be sold if the present trend holds up. Hard L.A., also featuring African rap act Die Antwoord and hip-hop group N.E.R.D., could be suffering from the fallout following last month’s Electric Daisy Carnival, which drew 185k to the Coliseum and Exposition Park, after which a 15-year-old girl died of a suspected overdose.
