File-Sharing Verdict Reduced

MONEY BACK GUARANTEE: A federal judge has drastically reduced a $675k verdict against a Boston University grad student found guilty of illegally downloading and sharing songs online. Judge Nancy Gertner cut a jury's damage award against Joel Tenenbaum to $67,500, saying it was unconstitutional and "out-of-proportion." He’s also sentenced to 2,456 hours of listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks records. Gertner said the reduced penalty is still severe enough to deter illegal file-sharing and adequately compensate the companies. (7/9p)
