PRINCE GIVEAWAY SPURS SALES: Despite what Prince says, perhaps the Internet isn’t over after all. Thanks to the free publicity from his well-covered analysis of cyberspace, sales of Saturday’s Daily Mirror which included his new album, 20TEN, were up 334k compared to the previous Saturday. Average sales of the paper in May ran 1,238,000, while Saturday’s paper boasted a 27% rise to 1,572,000. The Mail on Sunday did a similar giveaway for Prince's Planet Earth album in July 2007 during his residency at London's O2 Arena, which increased sales 23% (525k) to 2,801,000 compared to its average sale that month. The licensing deal for the album amounted to $378k in addition to a considerable promotional budget. (7/13a)
