Arcade Fire Raises Money Haiti

FIRE DOWN BELOW: At their sold-out Quebec City concert earlier this week, Arcade Fire announced that they will match donations made to the newly founded KANPE up to $1 million for Haiti relief. The band’s Win Butler told the 45,000 on hand at the historic Plains of Abraham that “for everyone who donates, our band will match it up to $1 million," adding, "Please take our money from us!" The band was then joined by members of the Haitian ensemble Ram, who came from Port-Au-Prince especially to play the show, for an emotionally charged rendition of "Haiti" from Arcade Fire’s 2004 debut Funeral. To make a $5 donation text STAND to 30333. For more info, go to www.kanpe.org. The band's hotly anticipated new album, The Suburbs, comes out Aug. 3 in the U.S. on Merge Records (7/15p)
