N.Y. Times on Hard NYC

IT’S A HARD REIGN: The N.Y. TimesJon Pareles weighed in on this past weekend’s “Hard NYC” techno festival on Governors Island, headlined by M.I.A., Sleigh Bells and Baltimore rapper Rye Rye, the latter two signed to the Sri Lankan hip hop provocateur’s Interscope-distributed N.E.E.T. label. The festival was the East Coast version of the L.A. show, which was postponed in the wake of the ill-fated Electric Daisy Carnival at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Among the acts was South African rap trio Die Antwoord, which Pareles dubbed “hilarious, exultantly nasty.” For his full review, click here. (7/26a)
