TIME FADES AWAY, BUT RUST NEVER SLEEPS: While Neil Young has been touring and working on an album of new material with producer Daniel Lanois (at least until the latter was injured in a motorcycle accident), the enigmatic legend’s team has continued with the assembly of the second installment of the sprawling career retrospective Archives. A post on Young's official site, NY Times, reveals that the next batch of goodies will include the unreleased studio albums Chrome Dreams, Homegrown and Oceanside-Countryside, along with the live Odeon-Budokan, produced by ol’ Neil’s mainstays, David Briggs and Tim Mulligan. What isn’t clear is whether they’ll be part of the second box set or made available individually; the posting says only that the four LPs will be part of the NYA Special Release Series. It ends with an unsubyle suggestion: “These albums initially will be released in vinyl from analog masters as they originally were created for that format. So now is the time to get your new phonograph player. The new players, built with today's technology, are exceptionally good.” (7/28a)
