Elektra Turns 60

ELEKTRA CELEBRATES 60: Warner Music Group marks Elektra Records’ 60th anniversary this year by launching www.Elektra60.com, “an interactive digital experience” that tells the story of the venerable label, conceived and curated by founder Jac Holzman, currently a Senior Advisor to WMG chief Edgar Bronfman Jr. The site includes a user-controlled timeline that traces its history from 1950 to the present, spotlighting artists from the Doors and the Stooges to Cee-Lo and Bruno Mars as well as label execs David Geffen, Joe Smith, Bob Krasnow, Bruce Lundvall and Sylvia Rhone. Specially targeted merchandise will also be available on the site, including the contents of Krasnow’s medicine cabinet. Next month arrives a written history of the label, Becoming Elektra: The True Story of Jac Holzman’s Visionary Record Label, by noted British music journalist Mick Houghton. (8/11p)
