Glee cast not paid for records--Page Six

SAY WHAT? According to Page Six, some Glee cast members claim they've been stiffed out of profits from album sales. In June, Mark Salling said he'd seen "not a dime" of royalty payments from Sony Music, while Corey Montieth said he got $400 for the chart-topping The Music—Journey to Regionals. "The Glee cast is furious because they feel they were misled by Sony," a source said. "They have all complained to Ryan [Murphy, the show’s executive producer] that they want a bigger share of the royalties." The item notes that Salling has signed with indie Pipe Dream, while Matthew Morrison was inked by Mercury back in January. Lea Michele is expected to record her solo album with Sony, but an insider said she's demanding that the cast be compensated for soundtrack sales. "Sony should have known better—they kept their hands on money that could have paid to the cast," the source insisted. "But by upsetting the biggest talent on TV, the label is cutting its nose off to spite its face. It is myopic, short-term thinking on their part." But Michele's rep said, "Lea Michele has always enjoyed working with Sony," while Montieth's rep said, "He has no plans to sign with any label at this time." Reps for Salling, Murphy, Morrison, Sony and Fox didn't even bother to respond. (8/30a)
