UMG Lobbying Costs

LOBBYING: Universal Music Group spent a total of $840k in the second quarter to lobby the federal government on issues, mostly on the performance rights act, a proposal to pay recording artists and labels royalties for song play on traditional radio stations. That’s more than the $700k it spent a year ago and more than the $810k it spent in the first quarter of the year, which included petitioning the federal government to up the budget allocated to fight music piracy.
