YouTube Looks to Start PPV Service

YOUTUBE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD: Google’s YouTube, long the nemesis of the mainstream film and TV business over alleged copyright violations, is now looking to Hollywood for a new pay-per-view video offering, according to a report in Financial Times. Even as Viacom, owner of Paramount Pictures, MTV and Comedy Central, appeals the court’s dismissal of their $1 billion suit against the companies, Google and YouTube are now preparing a plan to offer $5 video rentals on feature films, joining Netflix and Apple's iTunes among those alredy offering video streams of movies and TV shows to users.
