Buffalo Springfield reunites

BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD AGAIN: Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay, the talented triumvirate that fronted the Buffalo Springfield, will reunite for a pair of shows under that legendary nameplate, Young’s longtime manager Elliot Roberts spilled the beans to our own Bud Scoppa just before he interviewed Young and producer Daniel Lanois for Uncut about the artist’s radical, primarily electric solo album Le Noise (Reprise, 9/28). The reunited Springfield—minus bassist Bruce Palmer and drummer Dewey Martin, who passed away in the ’00s—will headline both nights of next month’s 24th annual Bridge School benefit concerts, held, as always, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. This is some talent lineup. The Oct. 23 show also features Pearl Jam, Lucinda Williams, Elvis Costello, Merle Haggard in tandem with Kris Kristofferson, Jackson Browne with David Lindley, Billy Idol, Modest Mouse and Grizzly Bear. The Oct. 24 lineup includes Elton John and Leon Russell, who will be part of T Bone Burnett’s Speaking Clock Revue, also featuring bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley, Costello, Neko Case and a moonlighting Jeff Bridges.
