Eminem and Anderson Cooper

SOFT ON EMINEM? Did 60 Minutes interviewer Anderson Cooper back off during his interview with Eminem on Sunday? Members of GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) apparently think so. Just a few days after the newsman criticized a trailer for the new Vince Vaughn/Queen Latifah movie, The Dilemma, for an anti-gay slur, forcing Universal to pull the spot, Cooper seemed to shy away from criticizing Eminem for his own homophobic lyrics. “I didn’t just invent saying offensive things,” said the rapper in response to Anderson’s question about the subject. “The scene I came up in that word was thrown around so much. Faggot was thrown around to each other in battle… I don’t have any problem with nobody, know what I mean?” At that point, Cooper dropped the discussion, which has prompted criticism from insiders both inside and outside the gay community. The newsman recently came out of the closet himself. (10/12a)
